A cute little story about a Birthday Wish Fairy, who is stumped when a kid asks to be a girl named Daniela, not a boy named David. Tulip learns to do little things to help: Clear Sight Sprinkles, so Daniela's family can see her as she is. Teaching Paste on everyone's toothbrushes, so they can help teachers and doctors understand Daniela. Bravery Broth. Confidence Cream to stand up to bullies. And extra sparkles for luck.

This is a great story for—I would say 5-8 year olds to better understand what being trans means, and how to support trans kids. There is a ton of text per page (much more than the average picture book), so it would be a little overwhelming for younger kids. Also, there's this line, which might start a whole other conversation: "Birthday Wish Fairies are limited in their powers. They cannot do the things these children were asking them to do--make Moms not be sick anymore, make Dads stop hitting, make money come or trouble go away. Those are big jobs."

I would definitely recommend this for school libraries, especially. A great resource for trans kids.

So stinkin' cute! I think I would have loved this book as a young'un. Maybe for slightly older kids (1st-3rd graders?)
