Tropes/Themes:
-MF contemporary romance
-Friends to lovers
-Amnesia
-Second chance
-Taboo (she’s his estranged brother’s ex-girlfriend)
-Lots of angst
-Dual POV
-Book #4 in an interconnected standalone series
I was super skeptical going into this since I hadn’t liked any of the previous Catharina Maura books I’ve read thus far, but I’m glad I picked it up because I ended up absolutely loving it. I usually don’t like the amnesia trope, but it really worked for me here. I felt like it actually serve the plot and angst well here. Silas was the perfect hero for me. I loved how obsessed he was with the heroine and how desperate he was to get her back. Being inside his head really contributed to my enjoyment of the book I think.
CWs for traumatic loss of a loved one by various means, suicide, homelessness
Story: 4/5
Audiobook: 5/5 (narrated by Zachary Webber & Lexi Maynard)
Length 13h57min

I was going to give it 4 stars when I was reading the past. I mean wow I was giddy and the story was so good but the present was a NO for me. I didn't like Alanna's anymore and it was frustrating.

This was so good.
I wish it was more connected to the series and other characters in the series or The Windsors.
