It was a little hard to get into the book the first couple chapters. They were a little confusing and way to many characters were introduced at once. But after you get past the few chapters it is much better, less confusing, less characters at one time.

Why haven't I read any of her books before? What was I waiting for?

I listened to this audiobook in my car. I found myself taking the long way home and finding excuses to drive so that I could continue this riveting story. I loved the female characters in this book because they are so well developed and well written. I'm putting Karin Slaughter at the top of my to-read list from now on.

3.5 stars. This is my second book by slaughter not counting a short novella prequel. This was good but dark and gritty like her other works. It was apropos for the time period in which it was set (70s).

Loved this....I don't normally wish for series but I'd definitely read another book featuring these two (three if you count Gail) strong willed female police officers. Reading this book now with it's racist, misogynistic undertones seemed quite apropos in light of the recent presidential elections.
Great book!

Gosh, I miss Will & Sarah so much, so I decided to dive into this one to hold me over until the next Will Trent book is released.

I enjoyed this one, albeit not as much as Karin’s other work. There’s lots of triggers in here, as it is set in 1975 and the world was very different then, so look them up if you need them.

Not the best Karin Slaughter book, but still a solid addition.
