- the MC is a trans woman
- both MCs are sapphic
Ohh, I loved this: Thief Laria lures bad men to her mermaid lover’s lair every few years, after which they can come together as lovers do. Plus one of them is trans, and they’re both sapphic. But Laria begins to want more, and it’s inevitable that she slips up.
So yeah, I liked this a lot! The language was very beautiful as well, atmospheric and dreamy at times. The story doesn’t quite go in the direction I thought it would at the beginning, but I’m overjoyed at where it did (and relieved!). There’s a lot of emotional maturity here in this little story.
So now I’m going to look up if Margaret Killjoy has written any anthologies ...
