"Please drop by if you are experiencing any ghost problems."

Ah, this was just the thing I was in the mood for. I heard that this one would get an anime, I even thought it was already out. :P Since the anime is not out yet, I decided to check out the manga and see if it was a good one.

And it was! Oh it was! Ghosts, monsters, weird art that still strangely fits with the manga, a duo that doesn't seem to match, and more. Each chapter is a new client (or at least a new monster/ghost).

Jirou (the assistant) and Muhyo (the executor/lawyer). These two will help you with your ghostly problem no matter how big or small. Jirou generally explains stuff while Muhyo just sits next to him. He sometimes does demonstrations, but it seems Jirou is the designated explain guy.

The ghosts/monsters are properly scary, not those wussy things you see at times in ghost stories, oh no, these critters will definitely kill you if they have a chance. Things with too many arms, a thirst for blood, and did I mention a chair that is hungry? I am happy that I read these stories during the day, and not at night, because I would probably not have slept that soundly.

I hated Muhyo's rule that they couldn't ever meet up with a client again once the case was closed. I felt it was just too much, too rude. Those people may want to thank you, or you may want to check up on them (like in the case of Grandma Kiyomi). I may have an inkling of an idea why Muhyo is so strict about it, but still... there should be some leniency in a few cases.

The magic laws, the ranking, the magic, it was all interesting. I still have questions, but I have the feeling that as this story continues we learn more and more about this and the magic world. I do hope that we also will learn how Jirou/Rouji got to be Muhyo's assistant. How did these two get matched up, at times you can see they have a great partnership... but other times... Oh good grief. These two bicker like a married couple.

I love how Muhyo is able to give out a punishment (or rewards as that also happens if a ghost is still good). It seems a bit too easy at times, they barely have to do anything, just open the book, say a few words/dole out a punishment/reward, and bang, solved. We do see that there is a struggle at times, a small fight or people having to be saved, but generally I would love to see a bit more action. Make it more exciting. A bit more danger, and not just for Jirou (that poor dude) or people standing by. I would like to see Muhyo do a bit more effort. Though it is funny that after such an event he has to sleep for 3 days (so people just have to hope they don't get in trouble in those days).

The art wasn't always my favourite part. The style is a bit weird, sharp, but I have to say, after reading all the chapters in the first volume I am actually quite liking it more than I did in the beginning. And I guess I have to admit, it does fit the creepiness and the weirdness of the manga.

All in all, I am going to be reading volume 2 quite soon, I just don't want to stop reading, but I guess I will be pacing myself. 2 volumes each month! No more. I don't want to burn through this one in one go (I actually do want that, but....).

The second volume, less ghosts per chapter, and much more story and information on the world, the Magic Association, and Muhyo and Rouji's relationship intensifies as certain things are learned.

So, I just had to keep on reading. I had to do some stuff first, but then I read and read and read. Because dang it is just too good. Sure, I was a bit surprised when we went from monster/ghost per chapter to a 2 chapter ghost arc, followed by a 1 chapter ghost, and then to a ton of chapters arc about the Magical Association, Muhyo's past, why he chose Rouji, Muhyo's nemesis, tons of creepiness, a pervert dude, and more. But once I was settled in for that arc, I didn't want it to end.

Let's start with the normal ghost stories. The first two chapters introduce us to a new character, Nana who is introduced to our duo by the brat from the previous volume, Kenji. Nana is a girl who loves taking photographs but has noticed there are ghosts in it. Are they real, or are they fake? The story was creepy, but also broke my heart. Poor girl.
We also find out that if Muhyo gives out the wrong punishment, the punishment will in a way come back to him. Which is an interesting thing, and I am kind of happy it is added, this way executors really have to think on the punishment and not send the ghost the wrong way (as again, not every ghost is a baddie). After a tears inducing ending, it seems that Nana is here to stay. I am not too sure if I like it though. She is quite an interesting character, but I don't know. I just feel it is too soon to introduce an important/main-ish character. But we will see if she stays.

The second ghost is a creepy one, and I have to say I was a bit pissed at Rouji. I do understand his feelings though. He has been with Muhyo for quite a bit of time, at least that is how it feels to me, but Muhyo makes remarks all the time. Not kind ones, but ones that would make even the strongest person feel shitty about themselves. Still I hope he learns a lesson from this one. You need to train more, don't let your emotions overpower you as you will endanger those around you.

Then there is the Magical Association arc. I had a laugh that Nana just followed our duo through the portal. Oh hey, a creepy portal? Let me just go through it. Oh Nana.
I loved seeing the Magical Assocation, it looks like a cold place filled with magic. But all is not as it seems. We will quickly see that there is more than just a test about to happen. Muhyo's nemesis makes an entrance. We get a whole backstory, including tons of insanity, creepiness, and eardrums shattering monsters. Lovely.

I am so happy that we finally find out more about Muhyo, about his friends Yoichi and Enchyu (though the latter went insane). Even back then Muhyo was lazy. *shakes her head* But he was talented and eventually it seemed he studied.
I am a bit angry that Muhyo never told Rouji about anything. I get that maybe he was waiting for the right time, but given the many things that happened, and the many arguments, I think the time has already passed. He should have told Rouji sooner.

Rouji has much to learn, but I am happy that we see that he has the power, that he has the ability to be a great magician/judge. He just needs to learn to not be overly emotional, trust his boss a bit more, and study something more difficult than those kiddie books.

The art is still not always my fav, but I will stick to what I said about it in my previous review, it does fit with the story, the creepiness.

Since I want to pace myself I got to wait for a bit before I read further. My plan is to read 2 volumes each month. That way I got something to look forward to. Plus the anime is coming soon, so I got that to fill my time as well.

This was a fun start to a new series. We follow two boys who run an investigation bureau tasked with finding ghosts and helping them cross over. Humans will come in with a supernatural problem, and they help them out. It was a fun first volume and introduced the world and the characters very well. If you want a good spooky manga to read for Halloween, I recommend it.

CW: Death of a Loved One, Grief, and Regret involved with losing someone.

This volume was even better than the first. We get introduced to more characters, including our main antagonist of the series. I loved it. The chapter with Nana's father almost made me cry. It discusses what it feels like to lose a loved one and the regret you feel when you can't apologize for a mistake. I highly recommend this series and I can't wait to read the next volume.

This volume was absolutely fantastic, and I'm hooked on this series now. We follow our group of magic users as they explore a high security magic prison in search of a deadly spirit. This volume was so intense and added a lot to the series. The first couple volumes were more monster of the week stories, now we're getting more interesting longer form stories. I highly recommend this series if you like supernatural manga.
