I have mixed emotions about this book. I definitely plan to read the second book but for now, there wasn't as much development as I was hoping for. Tullia was quite naive and she was a difficult character to read about. Florian, on the other hand, doesn't really have much personality other than being a dark and possessive Fae. This book is dark romance/fantasy, but there wasn't really a plot. I just needed more. I'm hoping book two has more character development, more world building, and just more in general. This wasn't bad, but it just wasn't anything all that memorable.

After seeing some great reviews for this book and loving the summary, I was super excited to read it. It definitely didn't let me down!

Nectar of the Wicked is about a nameless woman known as "Flea" by her guardian. She is a fae changeling that was swapped at a young age. At the age of 20, after 2 decades of being abused and treated terribly by her guardian, Flea is brought before the wild hunt who kill her Guardian and let her go free. Flea has always wanted to find her home in the land of the Fae and so when she meets a handsome Fae king, she decides to sign a contract to become his wife in return for finding out where she comes from. However all is not what is seems...

This story was an absolute rollercoaster! It is filled with sweet moments, smutty scenes and also scenes of abuse and torture. The worldbuilding is brilliant and I felt completely swept away into this new world and all the Fae aspects within it. I loved all of the magic but the mystery and intrigue was thoroughly gripping. In fact the ending has me so gripped that I am desperate to read the next book as soon as possible!

Our lead female "Flea" is such a great lead female. She is strong and brave but also incredibly kind and has a real vulnerable side. At her core all she wants is to be loved and I really liked that aspect of her.
Florian, the Fae King is such an interesting character. He has so many layers and I loved that he became a but vulnerable with our lead female. He isn't a lead male that I loved but I am hoping that changes in book two. He certainly plays an interesting role.
The romance is an interesting one. It is a love/hate theme aswell as enemies to lovers. The smut is very well written and there isn't too much of it, just enough for this kind of book.

The writing had me addicted from the word go. Despite the dark themes, the writing made for an easy read that I couldn't put down! I am so excited to read more by this author. I did think the middle part of the book became a little repetitive but this didn't last too long. However it is why I can't give more that 4 stars.

Overall, a brilliant start to the series and I am super excited to read the next book! I definitely recommend this book to lovers of smutty romantasy!

Please note that I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

The FMC is so weak that it hurts. I understand that she has low self esteem because of how she was raised but gosh, she’s so weak.

Quick fun read, though I skimmed a bit. It felt like the magic in this book is too wishy-washy. We have Fae who also drink blood like vampires and have magic like witches. But there‘s also witches in this world? The consequences of the magic, the blood etc wasn‘t at all explored,  they could not have existed at all and the book would barely change.

The romance was fun though and even if the plot twists were super predictable I enjoyed this
