The dialogue feels a little stilted, and sometimes there's something about the prose, but overall I found the story and characters really engaging - it has something of a pulp sci-fi feel about it, as the events of the (novel's) past regarding a space station refuse to stay buried.

This futuristic thriller has all the ingredients for a great genre recipe: corporate espionage, political corruption, murder, and sex robots. If I didn't just sell if to you, then there might be something objectively wrong with you. The story was well-plotted, brilliantly paced, and never gave too much away. Because the setting jumps around quite a bit, there were times that I felt mildly lost, but the story always found a way to re-center me. I left the story wanting to know more about Noone's background since the Christianity was hinted at but never explained, but Rem Kang was the star of the show and his character was immediately likable and sympathetic.

I was drawn to this book for 2 reasons: 1) I saw the author give a very inspiring presentation at South by Southwest interactive (not about the book itself, though it was mentioned), and 2) the title was derived from a Radiohead song. Yep - that'll sucker me in every time, in case you're an author desperate for an audience.

So why the 3-star review? I had the Kindle edition of this book, which it was not well-formatted for. There were either footnote of page numbers often in the middle of the page and no tabs for new paragraphs, which made the editing side of my brain hurt at times. I also could have used another round with an editor; there were some typos (like "clam down," which admittedly did make me laugh) that took me out of the story, and with it being such a good story, is unfortunate. I'd recommend getting the dead tree version of this book if you want to peruse it.
