Gorgeous writing. Grueling (appropriately so) story. Few writers can put you behind the eyes of someone losing their grip like Styron can. Not as satisfying as Lie Down In Darkness for me, but still a rewarding (and relatively quick) read.

Intense and involving short novel, with fully realised characters.
