WOW!..Syn is officially one of my top all time fave heros ever!!
Damn that man is one HOT piece of tortured hero ass!..lol..I loved every page of this book and couldnt put it down:)..It was everything I love all rolled up in one...Hard heros, kick ass chicks, smokin hot angst and lots of action..I cant believe I didnt start this series sooner but Im also glad I can keep reading a few more books before I have to start waiting for them to come out!

I can't believe I got to chapter 17 out of 21 plus epilogue and quit, but that's what I am doing. This story went from eye rolling, to seriously? to OMG, to bad, to worse. Until I just couldn't take it any more. I need a memory scrubber.

Fair Warning - the heroines in the first two books of this series are seriously judgy mcjudgersons... I mean they had to be beaten over the head with evidence to the contrary to believe in their guys. I found this a bit frustrating after Dark Hunters where the heroines generally were pretty cool and did not need a huge lecture + physical evidence to believe in someone. This made me batty for the first half of the book.
BUT they get there and since these books are so long they have lots of growth.
I liked the story and Sin was cool if an uber tortured hero. I can see the basis for Kenyon’s other books, she excels at non-annoying tortured but there is a lot of that in this book.

**spoiler alert** Since this isn't the first book I've read by her I can't help but compare them to the others, which is one reason I gave it a 3/5. Her style is very much like the dark-hunter series and I can't help but feel that it's a bit repetitive (description/guy's back-story), however, I like the fights so I always come back for more.
.One thing I did notice that didn't coincide with the previous book:.
At the end of Born of Night, Syn and Shahara arrive at the hospital where Nykyrian was having his surgery. Caillen was there as well.
In Born of Fire, up to the very end, Caillen and Syn don't seem to be on good terms (because C found S sleeping with his sister), which would make me think that in the previous book Caillen would have confronted Syn at the hospital. Also, in the previous book, Syn and Shahara seem to be on good terms (avoiding and wallowing) at the hospital, however, in this book they're not on good terms until the end, when he goes to her home.
I didn't really check what else didn't coincide (my guesses go mostly for Caillen and his attitude throughout previous book but I'm not sure) but for this I would probably give it a 2/5, however I didn't because I like her other books. I decided to give it a 3/5

First off, so much love for this author (as usual). This series is the stuff I fell in love with all those years ago.
Apparently there was some timeline disruption through this one and the last one but I didn't notice anything. It didn't seem that there was enough overlap to be noticeable.
Cant wait to get my hands on the next one...!

Sigh . . . I absolutely adore Syn. He's probably one of my top 5 fav romance heroes. He's had a beyond horrible past, but he's one of the most kind-hearted and generous guys I've ever read. I definitely wanted to kick Shahara's butt a time or two in this book, but it was a great ride and a terrific HEA in this story.

Sigh...I absolutely LOVE Syn. He's hands-down, my very favorite character in this series. It's probably why this book is the one I re-read so much.
Shahara, like most of the females in this series ... annoys at first, until they clue into their feelings and their men's true characters.
There is so much non-stop action going on in this book. I love stories where characters can't seem to catch a break.
Syn's path in life will break your heart. How he has the compassion and empathy for others after what he's been through is mind blowing. Watching Shahara realize what an amazing man he is, and move heaven and earth for him is pretty awesome.
One of my very favorite love stories.
