The Seven Year Slip is beautiful and heart-wrenching. Its perfect pace is partnered with surprising and devastating twists. It captures the ache of grief and the beauty of it too. It is filled with gratitude and hope, anger and confusion. In all, it is love after tragedy, community in darkness, beauty in the grey.

I did find the time aspect confusing at the beginning. I didn’t realise that it was only inside the apartment that the ‘slip’ occurred, so this brought me out of the story for a little bit but, once I’d figured that out, I was invested wholly.

On a more personal note, The Seven Year Slip allowed me the opportunity to reflect on my own feelings towards myself and life and the people I love. It gave me more reason to keep going. The beauty of literature can never be denied. I can’t say I’m excited, yet, to know who I’ll be in seven years, but I hope I still am.

Also, the Author’s Note was quite possibly the most beautiful Author’s Note I’ve ever read. Truly stunning.

I absolutely adore the writing style and choice of words in this book. It's beautifully written, and I can't wait to read Ashley Poston's next book. The way she portrays grief, happiness, and self-discovery feels so genuine and heartfelt. This book is a great read, especially if you're struggling to find happiness in your job and your place in life.

The element of magical realism with the time-slipping apartment was fascinating. I appreciated that there wasn't an explanation for the magic; it added to the allure and kept the magic feeling alive. The theme of staying true to yourself and your past while allowing room for growth and change was also beautifully woven into the story.

Lastly, I loved the romance between Iwan and Clementine. Their professions, with him being a chef and her working in publishing, added an enjoyable dimension to the story. I wish there were more chapters at the end!!!
