I expected more out of Cryer's Cross. It was a good read but it was lacking something.

3 stars. Spoilers will follow.

So, after never going to a bookstore for over a year, I went to one last weekend. I was overwhelmed with book syndrome, which is my term for when you fangirl over all the books you see and look at them all twice. I also spent 100 dollars on them. This was one of the books I bought, due to the recommendation of my best friend. She liked it alot. I was so-so on it.

This book sounded enticing. The premise was a town experiencing some dark, secret thing, and I was hoping this might actually turn out good. The way the blurb sounded, I was expecting a conspiracy theory story with crazy towns people or something. But the actual spooky element was such a let down. Creepy, but not as much as it could be. It also was a very short read; I read the majority in two days. However, I still feel like the book could have been shorter. The action only started 100 pages in, and didn't last long at all. The climax was basically the only part that was creepy. The rest was just Kendall being boring, and buying tampons and stuff.

Oh yeah, Kendall. She wasn't my favorite main character ever, but she was tolerable. At least she wasn't a total Mary Sue. The OCD thing was interesting, and I'm not actually sure if I like it or not. Besides that, just meh. Thats all I can say. She is a potato farming, dancing, acting/singing, soccer playing, little ball of meh.

I didn't like Jacian. At all. Way to be a jerk and then try and touch Kendall. The only part I tolerated you was when you saved Kendall's life. On that note, why was this romance piece even included? Nowhere was this advertised as a romance, and yet, that was a big part of the book. I feel Mcmann could've improved this book so much focusing more on the creepy aspect opposed to everything else..

Yeah, not my favorite but too quick a read to care.

I'm not really sure what to think of this book. I was expecting a lot with the way this book started with a girl missing already from this itty bitty town. The thing I liked about this book was that it kept me reading because I wanted to find out about what/who was taking the teens. I was a little upset with the ending, kind of a weird paranormal twist with the desk being kind of like a holder of the spirits of those kids from the boys home that use to be in town.

Another thing I liked about the book was Kendall. This is the 2nd book that I have read this year with a main character who has a disorder that many teenagers have and could relate to her with that. Even though she struggled with her disorder, she was a strong female character. With Jacian, I liked how his character developed through the book because I was doubting him in the beginning but I had a feeling that he wasn't involved in it.

This was a 5/5 re-read for me! I read it in high school and loved it, and it holds up for the most part! I doubt the depiction of OCD is accurate but it’s a good book overall, and a fast read. I couldn’t put it down!

RECENZE: http://imoox.blogspot.cz/2014/09/mesto-kde-lide-mizi-beze-stopy.html
