This might be a good gift for someone looking to get into cartooning who doesn't know any of the history of American comics. It's a sort of Christmas Carol where, instead of being presented with his past, present, and future, an aspiring artist is visited by the Wikipedia entries of Ditko, Kirby, and Wood.

The art is fantastic, and each time Ponchione is talking about a particular artist, his aping of their style feels like deft homage and not lifeless copy. There's also a followup story about Eisner.

I don't think there's enough in any of these stories to appeal to fans of any of the artists, or general fans of American comics. But, again, it might be fun for a young cartoonist.
