Best book so far in this series! What I wanted to happen, hasn’t yet. However, it’s bound to in the next book.

3.5 stars. If, like me, you were looking for more Stolas, we finally get it in this book. The story picks up a lot, and there are some good twists and turns that keep things interesting!

I’m looking forward to the next book.

Spoilers. I'm absolutely in love with this series and cannot wait until November. There are a few things I took issue with such as Archeron's decent into madness. I felt like his disgust for the darkness that resides in Haven should have been more of an issue in early books preventing intimacy. Where they did have more intimate contact earlier I saw this as a bit... confusing. Stolas is perfection though and has always been my original ship from the first time he's introduced in the first book. Other than Archeron's sub-plot I'm in love. Maybe I just feel just as betrayed by the preening Sun lord too and it's clouding my review.

Aaaaand Iѓ??m out.

The first book was just okay.
The second book hooked me- it wasnѓ??t perfect, but it was leaps and bounds better than the first.
The third book made me want to tear my eyes out.

Itѓ??s the same thing over and over again. Haven making stupid choices. Archeron making stupid choices. A lot of talking about those stupid choices. And repeat.

I felt zero connection to Archeron from the beginning so the fact that that love arc was dragged out for 3 books kind of annoyed me. I get it, though, from a plot line perspective. But itѓ??s frustrating that itѓ??s popular to drag things out now into 4+ books. So much could have been removed from these books and really condensed and refined into 3 books max.

Mostly Havenѓ??s romping around like sheѓ??s some badass invincible demon slayer.

As the third installment of this series, but not final book, I was afraid it would be more of a filler book than a real add to the series. I did not expect to be thrown once more in this world so fast. I enjoyed everything and I was so happy to meet these characters once more. The end was perfect; I think I can say this is my favorite book of the series so far. I could see the author growth in terms of writing and composure, and most importantly, I could see the character development that I dread so much in every book.

Not much to say because this was a good book that really met my expectance and left me anxiously waiting for the next (out november 2020).

Final vote: 4,5/5

Actual 3.5
The middle dragged a bit and I wasn’t totally loving the competition element, but we finally got some spice and there was some interesting character development from you know who

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the first two. I skimmed a lot of filler chapters and could have done without the trials plot. It was so lackluster. I would rather have the characters be involved in political machinations than the overused trial trope.

With that being said, Stolas is the main reason I kept reading this series. After book 2, I didn’t care enough about the other characters to continue if the Shade Lord wasn’t involved.

Archeron can eat dirt. I never liked his 2-faced ass, and I definitely don’t now. He never came across as genuine or caring to me.

Lastly, that big reveal with Haven was obvious. It’s something I started predicting in book 2. Overall, this book was ok, and parts of it were highly entertaining. I’ll read the next book out of curiosity, but I definitely need a palette cleanser before then.
