A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin

Got annoyed at the idea of killing off Jon Snow. Was prepared to come back and re-read / finish once the next book came out, assuming he was "resurrected".  However, given that the series is likely to never be finished, I've never bothered to re-read / finish this one.

It's been 13 years since I read any Martin (at the time of this writing), and I'm unsure I'll bother reading *anything* else unless / until the entire series is complete.

I'm just frankly bored with the wait at this point, having started this series WAY BACK in 1999.

I love the dream sequence at the end, we haven't had as much of Danys dreams since the first book - GRRM RELEASE WINDS OF WINTER NOW

I enjoyed this, but not as much as some of the previous books. I really feel like the pace was dragging at times. It's a long book, but I seldom felt like I just *had* to find out what happens next - hence my taking the better part of 5 months to read it, as I was often putting it aside to read something else. Still, I'm looking forward to reading [b:The Winds of Winter|12111823|The Winds of Winter (A Song of Ice and Fire, #6)|George R.R. I have finally caught up with this series and feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Of course I am shocked, surprised, apalled, happy, and even sad about many of the events in this book (of which are really too many to name all).
SpoilerGood riddance to Cersei, but I am really wishing for the downfall of Ramsey. What a evil, creepy person. Also JON! No. I am so sad and will have to tell myself he's not actually dead. Mr. Martin has a wonderful talent for showing us something amazing and then snatching away the ending, making us wait for more news in agony for many pages. As always, everyone's lives are at cliff hangers until the next book.

Phenominal book. If you have read the other books of the series, you must read this one. It brings back all of the characters from previous books, and adds a couple new ones. It stays exciting right up through the epilogue. The language is, as ever, awesome; and the world remains the most detailed and complete of any fantasy book that I have read. The multiple religions also continue to play a larger and larger role in the book. Overall, I highly recomend it.

P.S. if you are just starting the series, you absolutely must start with the first book (A GAME OF THRONES) or you will be hopelessly lost and it will ruin the series. And the first book is equally amazing as any of the other books.
