The plot was good but the writing just seemed very dry and did not keep me interested

A zesty new entry in a popular mystery series

On her wedding day, Lalla Bain waited an hour and a half past the appointed time for her missing fiancé, Sheriff Caleb Stone. When he didn’t show, hurt, disappointment, and anger propel her out of California.

Lalla, her dad, and her cousin Pearlie visit Lalla’s newly inherited property in Wishbone, Arizona. Things at the new place get off to a rocky start, especially when Lalla’s dad is implicated in a murder. In the blink of an eye, there are two murders and so Lalla and Pearlie put on their private eye hats and start asking questions.

Dahlke’s lively pacing adds to the zest of this 4th book of her series. The rich characterizations, broken hearts, and the whodunit drew me quickly through the pages. After four books, Lalla feels like family!
