I really enjoyed this book! The story follows the life of Ella Reynolds, a murder mystery writer, a year after the gruesome murder of her husband. Since moving to family home of her husband, Ella felt a strange presence in the house. When her husband was murdered, she was convinced the house was responsible while the town thought she had done it. Isolated in the town, she forms a bond with the detective who investigated her husband's murder and they work together to solve the crime and figure out who or what is causing all the strange goings on in her house.

This book captured my attention immediately and kept me turning the pages. A rare book that kept me up at night to finish just a little more. Very enjoyable and well written. I will definitely be looking for more to read by Liz Schulte.

It had an interesting setup and exciting premise but the ending and ultimate reveal disappointed me.

This book is the first honest-to-goodness "5" that I've read in a while. I feel like I read a lot of 4.5's that I give a 5 stars because I feel like I just need to round-up. But, this book made me feel every emotion, and genuinely had a great ending. I am so glad that I read it. If you like a good scary story to read in the dark when you're home alone- this is it!
