I'm a sucker for sci-fi anthologies. Enough short stories to provide some variety, sometimes leading to finding a new and interesting author. But this one was just too uneven. Only Ursula K Le Guin's translation of the Argentinian Angelica Gorodischer's short [non sci-fi:] story really grabbed my attention. The rest of the stories didn't resonate with me at all. Maybe Patrick Nielsen Hayden and I simply have wildly differing opinions on the state of modern-day sci-fi? Doesn't give me much hope that I'll enjoy the first book of this series, to be honest.

Another well-crafted collection from the previous century. Ooh, that makes it sound practically dust-covered. Seriously, quite good, especially Mr. Chiang's "Story of Your Life."

I added this collection to my reading list for Ted Chiang's "Story of Your Life", and it was just as much fun to read the fourth time. The collection also starts off with a good one, Robert Charles Wilson's "Divided by Infinity". Another favorite is Geoffrey Landis' "Snow".
