I loved this book! I laughed, cried, and annoyed my husband by having to read parts of it out loud to him! Glennon is just so refreshing- not perfect but honest. She has opened my mind up to how not to take myself so seriously. It does read like a blog, so if you don’t want that get yourself a novel! I would recommend this to everyone!

I have been following G on her momastery blog for several years now and I'm always touched by her writing. This book is no different - it alternates between being laugh-out-loud hilarious and thought-provoking, and also can bring you to tears. She perfectly captures the essence (and difficulty) of parenting, Christ-following, and just trying to get through each day. Many of her tag phrases are ones I think about on at least a daily basis: Love wins. We can do hard things. Search for the Kairos moments (carpe kairos).

My only complaint is that several of the chapters are simply recycled blog posts. While I didn't mind reading them again (because they are amazing), I was hoping that this book would be all new material.

Loved.
While I didn't see eye to eye with Glennon on every single thing, the way she spoke to my heart appealed to me and touched me like few books and speakers do. She gets it...really gets it. I highlighted like crazy reading this.

If I could have read only 1 book this year it would have to be this book.

This book has all the hallmarks of a first book. It’s lovely, but maybe a little over eager. It could use some refinement. It’s also got a lot of the same humor present throughout Doyle’s writing, and even some familiar stories. Ultimately, it didn’t carry the same inspiration for me, personally. Part of that is probably because I know where we’re headed. Knowing the story of Untamed, it’s hard not to take the gushing commitment to her husband and church in this book as the inauthentic musings of someone who’s trying to convince herself more than she’s trying to convince us. I’m open to the idea that life, and life’s “knowing,” evolves. But I also know that I probably would have enjoyed this book more if I hadn’t devoured Untamed (three times) before reading this book.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this book is like sitting down for coffee and girl talk with your new friend Glennon. Some of the essays are taken from her blog, momastery.com, so you may have read some of them before. I think they're worth a reread. I don't know how someone can be simultaneously snarky and so incredibly kind (to others and to herself), but Glennon pulls it off. I felt like she was talking right to me, telling me that everything is going to be ok, that I can do hard things, and that love wins.

Fair warning, There is a LOT of god in this book. So much that, in any other writer's hands, it would have been too heavy handed and sanctimonious for this agnostic secular humanist to handle and I would have immediately put it down. But Glennon talks about god gently and seamlessly. In a lot of places I took 'god' to mean 'the universe' and I was right there with her - I think she would be thrilled with that.
