Disappointing
Yes, I understand we aren't getting any new material, but I was hoping for better than this. Unlike past discworld diaries where there were fun little factoids on each spread, this one just has random disc world quotes. That's ... fine.
BUT
They passed up on so much potential. They could have reprinted the previous diaries that are now impossible to get. They could have used material from the disc world companion. It would have been even better if they had used material out of the early editions of the disc world companions that was edited out of Turtle Recall. There were So Many Wonderful Things that this book could have been.
But it isn't.
It's a book of lined pages with random discworld quotes from the Death sub-series sprinkled throughout.
It's just ... meh.

Good art (but repeated a lot, not more than 15 or so original pieces), some great quotes from the books, and nothing else. I know this is an empty Journal to fill in, but it's way over priced for what it is. But I guess they know that fans like me will buy these things regardless...

I won't lie to you: I don't understand why I, myself, paid money for this book. I'm a sucker for Discworld memorabilia and I own every Discworld diary, so maybe I had some hopes this would be like those?
I had completely glossed over the JOURNAL bit in the title and assumed this would be another diary (although the newer ones lack the standard of the original recipe ones, so I wasn't even THAT excited about it. And it's especially hilarious when you know that I am primarily on the librarian changelog for this book; I made and updated the page and I didn't even read what information I was putting in.)
And the way I feel about those newer diaries aside (the Witches one was particularly painful), this was just sad. There's really no reason to buy this product unless you are interested in new artwork from the Discworld Emporium crew. You can find the interlaced quotes about Death in the novels themselves.
Save your money. Unless you're a hardcore collector like me, then buy it and regret it.
