I have pretty complicated feelings on the book. Like I feel like I shouldn’t like it? It felt like it never left the beginning of the book and I felt like we were missing two thirds of the book. I’ve been a fan of Alexis Hall for several books and it’s hardly changed with this book, but it didn’t feel like his usual books. However! Somehow, I still like it? I thought the characters had promise and the story had potential, it just felt like I was missing a lot of the story. Again, conflicting feelings. Like I feel like I got a trailer and then the ending. I want the rest!!!

Unlike any other romance

I realty liked this book. It really was unlike any other m/m I've ever read. Alexis Hall didn't reinvent the genre, her just did things a little differently. At first neither one of the Mc's was all that likeable. Ash was a mean little bitch and Darian was a loud annoying glitter pirate. But then, c they both kind of grew on you, especially Darian. I am in love with that man.
The story was good. It gave me everything I needed and a few things I didn't know I needed. There was plenty of sex, and it was well written, but this book isn't what I'd call hot. Jaknowwhatimean?

This book didn't make me cry ( well I did tear up a little towards the end ) and it's didn't make me hard, but I did tell enjoy it and I recommend it very much.

mmm meh. i usually enjoy romances with mental ill MCs but this guy was too unlikeable tbh. and so was the love interest. the entire book was about him being a bad person and also having bpd and depression. so whenever he wasn’t depressed (which was depressing to read), he was being an asshole (which was annoying to read). and it was hard to tell why the LI even liked him. and hard to tell why he liked the LI since he only ever thought of him as a dumb, orange, gullible airhead. the sex was pretty good though i guess. and that last chapter was a masterpiece of writing. very moving dialogue and made me feel even though i didn’t particularly care about either character

Idk pretty good, I liked it enough. Could've had less main character monologues of how he needs to be a better person. Will i read the next one? Probably?

A delightful queer romance that really examines the complexity of self-hatred based on mental health issues.
