A good sci-fi romance for an afternoon read

Heavy on angst this story carries on in the Draconian world I have enjoyed before. Octavia is a strong smart woman, not putting up with her alien mates rudeness. Joss is mostly an a$$, but it makes for a fun read.

Octavia/Joss

I loved Octavia's spunk and determination. Joss was my least favorite male in the bundle. Even his redemption at the end wasn't enough to change my mind. The guy acted like a donkey's butt and was barely redeemed, imo. To his credit, he did say, “Fate gave me a brave, intelligent mate who was a match for my stubbornness.”

This was my least favorite book of the series.

How is the author's writing? Good
Is there sexual content? Yes
How is the story narrated? Third person
How would you describe the pace? Fast
How would you describe the characters? Semi-developed

I read this story as part of the five book Bundle (ASIN: B01AEG893Y).

This was an interesting read. I've read the rest in this series and this one was different from them. Joss is a very different Draconian than any of the other ones that we have met, even the ones who weren't looking to mate. Joss does not have a high opinion of humans or earth and is very vocal about it. I didn't like him, for quite a while because he is such a jerk, and he stays that way for most of the book. Octavia was great. I did like her but wanted her to be a little tougher with Joss, but that's because he got on my nerves quite a bit. Octavia lives in New York city and has been working on plans to rebuild the city. Joss gets sent in to rebuild Earth, starting with New York city and plans to take no one else's view into account and plans to build colony buildings and says they are better than anything Earth had before. He is a grand architect on Draconia and so is very superior to anything else anybody could think. Octavia enters the lottery because she needs to talk to Joss and get him to change his mind. Joss is not happy about having a mate at all and so it not nice about it or to Octavia as things progress. This story progresses quite differently between the characters because of Joss' reaction and attitude.

This story is a quick read and is months after the last in the series. They are dealing with the aftermath of the invasion. You get to see pop bys of the other characters from previous stories. The sex is explicit like the others. The relationship between the two characters is more back and forth because they are drawn together by the mating impulse (and Joss is somewhat nicer then) and then afterward their attitudes come back. I enjoyed this series and it is not necessary to read the others in the series but I do recommend it. You will get more enjoyment out of this story if you have read those.
