I remember reading it in high school and thought about it for so long afterwards that I want to read it again.

Sager Rainsford, a big game hunter from New York City accidentally tumbles overboard one night and swims until he finds himself upon the shore of a jungle island. He eventually finds his way to a large building and inside he is greeted by General Zaroff. The General welcomes him inside and as the two sit down together for dinner, Rainsford learns that the General shares his passion for big game hunting, but at one point grew bored with it and has now created a more dangerous “new animal” to hunt which gives him much more of a challenge.

Originally published in 1924, this story is timeless. It speaks on barbarity but also on classism, racism, and power. There’s not much I can say without spoiling the plot. As popular as this story is, many of you probably already know the gist of how it goes, but for those who don’t, I won’t ruin it for you. It’s a very quick read and definitely worth checking out.

It’s very good. It’s a good view of Hunters becoming hunted and it has a good premise.
