I'm sure if you're knowledgeable about the human body this book would seem too simplistic, but it's a great introduction to a fascinating subject for the layperson who, like me, knows almost nothing and is curious. As I read I kept thinking, "How much do I really know about my body?" Not much, when it comes right down to it. Could I get by that way? Yeah, but after reading this, I don't think I want to.

The section on microbes was fascinating. They play such an important role in our lives and we're only just now beginning to understand them. We've learned quite a bit in the last decade, but there's so much still waiting to be learned. I wonder what we'll know (and take for granted) 20 years from now?

Really enjoyed this book. The title piques my interest and I appreciate the published researches, as well as what we have not yet uncovered the mysteries of the human body. The gut is explored, from the clever design of our bodies to the little micro-organisms dwelling inside us. The facts are well-aligned and applicable to our every day, so I think this book would help a little if you are suffering from digestion problems (still, contact your physician!)
The illustrations are cute, the chapters are short and interesting enough. I can tell from the writing style that the author enjoys her work tremendously, and she was doing her best to explain it to you in the simplest terms. I feel like her writing could have been more matured and a bit more sophisticated, though, but it is my personal taste.

Perhaps would not be as enthralling to someone who hasn’t been constantly anxiety-vomiting and chronically motion sick for their entire life. Also IBS. This was so fun to read and it’s really engaging—if you’re not squeamish about your own bowels.

Informative, told in an easy-to-read and humorous way. Got a bit boring towards the end for me.
