Love the artwork but didn't gel too much with the story or style. Still, I'm interested to see if Emilia Clarke does any other graphic novels :)

This is good, but not as good as I wanted. I will say this, anyone complaining about how almost all the men are caricatures of misogynist men in the 60s on acid totally missed how that is the entire point. Like, christ its a goddamned fiction comic about feminism. Read Bitch Planet if you want to see this exaggeration taken up to an 11.
I mostly liked some of the waxing poetic on feminist theory, but sometimes it made the actual story get muddled. Curious to see if Clarke keeps going with writing and what she does next.
Seriously though, read Bitch Planet after you finish this one.

I LOVE THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL SO MUCH OH MY CHRIST
It was perfect, it had all the hallmarks of a classic hero narrative with the somewhat cheesy lines but refreshed by including the main protagonist as A WORKING CLASS SUPERHERO FEMINIST ICON WHO IS A SINGLE MUM!!!
A lot of issues are tackled within the book, human trafficking, white feminism, rape, suicide, parental loss and subconscious misogyny are just a few of the themes which were dealt with brilliantly. It shows that life isn't black and white and instead if we approach one another with love and empathy we will do far better in this world.
Yes some of the language used was very blunt and there may be many people who are lucky enough to never be in a situation where someone uses the #metoo hashtag for a laugh HOWEVER THAT DOESNT MEAN IT DOESN'T HAPPEN, I FOR ONE AM AN EXAMPLE OF THAT.
Ive also found it infuriating looking at some of the reviews asking why its set in the future while the characters live in a toxic patriarchal society... well I'm sure people living in the 50's would have hoped ALL womxn would be free from misogyny yet here we are... oh and maybe because it's a work of fiction?
The story is genuinley gripping, fast paced and packed with twists. I loved the introduction and the artwork is beyond beautiful, I'm so happy I picked this up. I've laughed, gasped and have been left thinking about it when not reading it... possibly the best graphic novel I'll read this year.
I also love that the back pages have help lines for the above mentioned themes

I think the graphics are beautifully drawn and I like the badass main character. But there were way too many issues trying to be covered. I also just didn’t quite follow along with everything. It was a little all over the place.
