Based on Isaiah 9:2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. They lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on them.
This book teaches kids that when we, in our pride, try to shine brighter than others we cast shadows that kept them hidden. It reminds us that God created us all to be lights, that we are created equal & are meant to shine equally. It teaches kids that allowing this darkness in our hearts makes it harder for us to see God's light in others. It gives examples of how we can shine God's light, like helping the homeless & welcoming the foreigner.
I think this is a unique way to demonstrate scripture's worth in our modern lives, & I think it's a fresh way to help kids understand sin & the results of it. Personally, I feel that we need this book & others like it to help train up our kids in the way they should go.
