I would give this TEN STARS if I could.  I found this as I was shelf reading, and snuck it onto my favorite reference librarian's desk because she also really loves pugs...CLEARLY she knew it was from me and checked it out later that day.  And the second she returned it, I checked it out.  It....was so sweet.......I love pugs so much........(not to mention the underlying discussion of classism and treating pets as family........as well as the didacticism about whether if you're a good person good things will happen to you because of COURSE they will).  I just.  Babbitt's illustrations are also so sweet.  The two dogs are so sweet.  In fact, that reference librarian and I should get matching tattoos of those pugs.  I'm going to email her now.  There.  I did it.  That's how much I love these pugs in this book.  10/10 would DEFINITELY read again.
