I just read Heads Will Roll, another short story by McBride on Tor.com and I am loving it. I love that these were light, fun stories about funny and sarcastic "kids"- more like teens. You can read this one free here: http://www.tor.com/stories/2014/12/burnt-sugar-lish-mcbride.

This story was great. I loved Ava, Lock and Fox, and I would love a whole collection of their short story adventures! Magic, humor, adventure, ominous goings ons.... All good. Would highly recommend if you like fantasy, light-hearted stories, and fire.

We’d come looking for a witch—I hadn’t asked Lock what kind of witch—and it was clear from the cabin that she was not a good one. There’s no conceivable reason why a good witch would have a gingerbread house.

Hansel and Gretel really is a nasty little story, isn't it? This is a fun little story about paybacks. Paybacks involving a pyromancer, a dryad, and some kind of kitsune.

Final verdict? I'll be reading [b:Firebug|16117921|Firebug (Firebug, #1)|Lish McBride|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1393959278s/16117921.jpg|21936326].

I loved this..
First of all the illustration is so beautiful that i was immediately intrigued. It's not only a very fast read and super interesting but it also has very mysterious elements and funny likeable characters and by far the best thing is that you can read it for free.. YES FREE!!

Another Tor.com short story

Oh, its sad to look at fairy tales as an adult and realize the actual devastation behind them.

Very interesting retelling of the Hansel and Gretel story. I didn't realize this was set in the world of one of McBride's books; I'm definitely interested in reading that one now. Clever and amusing.
