******SPOILERS AHEAD******

I'd say this volume was split into two halves. The first one had me at the edge anticipating Kaneki's fate while the second half was a breather, removed from the anxiety and excitement!

It hurt to watch Kaneki in that state. He's endured so much to become strong, only to find that his enemies are not the ones he thought they were. The shock was enough to bring out his pain and trauma from the past and push him to the limits of hurting his own people!!

Shinohara fought really well, despite Kaneki being insanely strong and having two damn Kagunes! But I'm glad that in the end, Amon could still act humanly towards a Ghoul that almost killed his superior. I'm really starting to like Shino and Amon..

I was truly, truly glad when that disgusting, horrendous thing came off Kaneki's face. And then for one chapter, just for one, he lived his human life but it made me realise that Hide is still looking out for Kaneki. He doesn't even know if his friend is alive but that hasn't prevented him from having hope. Everyone needs a friend like that..

But, what is up with Juuzou casually keeping (God knows how many) knives on him. He felt no remorse at the state of his superior and seems to have a terrible past just like everyone else in this story. It feels like there's not a single person that's had a decent life here, sigh..

ೃ⁀➷ overall review. the development of kaneki is absolutely crazy. he is really losing the human he used to be the more the story goes, and i feel so bad for him. this volume really focused more on the characters and the dynamics of both ghouls and humans, which i really like because it almost deepens the relationship with the characters from me, the reader. some of the characters that i didn’t like (mainly the investigators) i’m starting to like more, like amon and mado. overall, this was a great read! not too spectacular, but not boring at all.

Another fantastic volume! I'm so glad Kaneki got to see his favorite author, can't my boy just have some nice things once in awhile?? Also, the artwork and paneling in this volume was fucking fantastic, like last time. I really feel like Ishida put all of his focus and dedication into this and the previous volumes, and it definitely paid off!
