Burning Up is a fast, fun read that will tick all of your firefighter fantasy boxes. There’s a rescue, a bachelor auction, and a whole lot of steam. What more could you want?

Felicity and Noah steam up the pages with their chemistry and just the slightest amount of angst to keep things interesting. If you love a dutiful hero and a kind, nurturing heroine, this book is definitely for you.

Thanks to the author for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Burning Up is the sixth book in The Prescotts series by Tara Wyatt. I have not read every book in the series, but I have not had any problems reading them as stand-alones. The author does an excellent job of including any history that is needed to follow the storyline. The NYFD team is charming, and I loved seeing the characters from previous books. The storyline was straightforward with low angst and the main characters were likable.
FDNY Captain Noah Prescott blames himself for his father’s death and as the oldest child, he assumed all the heavy responsibilities for his family. He is a helper and cannot turn anyone down when they need help. He realizes he doesn’t have the time or the ability to have a romantic relationship. Noah knows he should stay away from Felicity because he knows in the end, she will be hurt but he can’t ignore the connection between them.
Divorced for over a year, Felicity Hawthorne teaches high school English and after Noah and his team rescue her from a stuck elevator, she never expects to see the handsome firefighter again. Attending a charity auction with her friends sounded like fun except seeing Noah being bid on at the auction dimmed the evening until her friends help her win him. He was the perfect man to help her practice dating again, but she would rather date him.
This was a fun, entertaining, and easy-to-read book. The characters and the issues they faced were real-life which made them easy to connect with. I loved watching Felicity grow and become more confident in herself. She had spent years with a man who had never put her first, so she had to learn who she really was after her divorce. Noah was a wonderful guy but had no boundaries for his friends and family. He had to take a stand and do something for himself for once. They were a great couple and I look forward to seeing them again in future books. The next book is Hudson’s, and it looks like it will be just as good as this one.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Practice Dates

I want to start by saying that I really do like Noah and Felicity's story. It is a bit on the predictable side but their chemistry is three-alarm-fire hot and all kinds of cute.

Very disappointing...

I really loved how the book began, the chemistry between Noah and Felicity, the richness and depth of the characters, the premise of going on practice dates, the emotional damage both were dealing with and were hopefully going to heal by being in a relationship together... It was so promising!

And then came the sex scene... *sigh* I'd seen it coming because of Noah's hints at tying knots, liking control etc, but the way they both acted during the sex scenes felt like different characters to me. And Noah going caveman and not being able to say "I" frustrated me to no end, and I know it's small, but it rubbed me wrong.

Anyway, from the sex scene on, things went downhill. It felt rushed all of a sudden and also became very predictable. So 2 disappointed stars.

I think what could've made it better is if the dom-sub aspect would've been left out, because that wasn't fleshed out enough. And if Noah would've still been able to say "I need", even when in lust

Noah and Felicity were burning up the pages!
Hot Firefighter with guilt a mile long saves hot, divorcée teacher from a stuck elevator. The moment they touch is sparks flying everywhere. Oh well, she’ll never see him again. FF a few days later, charity auction, rescued teacher is at a fundraiser with her girlfriends and who’s a bachelor on the block…hot Noah! Oh her friends have got to be the best friends ever because they drop 7 large on Captain Noah Prescott of the FDNY.

Their date turns out magical. He can see a Felicity she doesn’t see, and she can dissect Noah so well it scares and intrigues him. Noah isn’t “relationship material” because he has too many responsibilities. Well those self imposed responsibilities may have him missing the woman that was made just for him. If you haven’t read any of the Prescott men by Tara Wyatt, you can start here, but go back to the beginning too. These fellas really keep you reading and then women who are in their lives are amazing. 4.5⭐️ 3.75

Felicity wins Noah in an auction and they soon begin dating. She was burned in a relationship before and can’t believe someone like Noah would really wants to date her. But he does…

Noah likes Felicity from the moment he rescued her from the elevator being stuck between floors.

Burning Up is a great story, full of steam and cute moments. I liked it but at times I felt like I read similar fears in previous books in this series. For example, I’m now reading book nr. 3 (Max’s book) that have similar story – death in the past, insecure hero etc. And since Noah’s story is sixth in this series, this feels like Max’s story being a little redone what with Noah being a firefighter and the auction. The fact that he was a firefighter made this one maybe a little better than Max’s.

All in all, great book but if you’re looking for a book focused on dating practice like the blurb suggests, this book sadly isn’t it because there’s no practice at all, they just start dating soon because they both likes each other too much.

4 stars.

Burning Up is a very sweet and emotional story. It is also super sexy, which is very well done. It is the sixth book in The Prescotts series. I’ve really enjoyed this series, and Burning Up is a great addition.

Noah and Felicity are two people carrying baggage. Felicity is eighteen months out from the end of her marriage, in which her husband cheated on her and left her for the other woman. She has been regrouping and finding the parts of herself she lost during the marriage, but still fears inadequacy in relationships and the bedroom. Noah is dealing with the trauma of losing his fire captain father in 9/11, and carrying guilt for what he feels is his part in that loss. This guilt has controlled his life and how he lives it. They have a memorable meet cute and are automatically drawn to one another.

As their relationship grows and they both finally take a chance on another person, they start learning to trust in themselves and their needs. The themes of loss and growth are upfront throughout the book. Did I mention it is also hot? Really well done scenes that added to the emotional content while also raising the temperature.

This is my second favorite book of the series, second only to Snow Job. I recommend it highly.

Special thanks to the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 4 stars!

I had only read the previous book, [b:Side Effects|60212782|Side Effects (The Prescotts, #5)|Tara Wyatt|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1643138029l/60212782._SY75_.jpg|94954447], in this series but I had a feeling that I'd love Noah's story and so I'm glad that I wasn't wrong. Burning Up is a fun, fast, pretty hot and slightly angsty story that is perfect if you're looking for a romance with characters that have explosive chemistry! I really liked the dynamic between all the characters we meet from Noah's brothers and cousins to Felicity's ride-or-die besties, though I kinda wish we saw more of them. Plus, while we do get a HEA, I thought the ending was a bit too abrupt and I had hoped that we'd get a moment where the family officially meets Felicity. That said, the good still outweighed the not-so-great parts for me and I can't wait for Hudson's story next cos I have a feeling he just might be my favourite!
