I almost wish that I’d had the chance to read all the novellas in book chronological order opposed to publishing order. Almost.

Without a doubt, reading this first would have changed my opinion on the Mason parents. I know I would have wanted them to be more included in Feed and the subsequent books.

Seeing Stacy as the much more complex person she is and the relationship between her and Michael compared to the glimpses in the Feed trilogy really rounded out the view of the Mason family as a whole.
The glimpses of the Rise and immediately Post-Rising have been parts of my favourite novellas. I found this no different. I enjoyed watching the way the Masons found their stride in the new world and how it led to the start of Feed.

Grant knows just how much information to give you and keep your own views of the universe flowing. I enjoyed this a lot. If Grant keeps writing little snippets in this universe, I’ll keep reading.

Quick read. I found myself in tears more than I thought I would. This is an emotional book and I liked the pacing of it especially.

The only thing that makes me want to put 4.5 stars is that I want more of this story. More of the people that join the main characters - not to spoil but you already know if you read the main novels but this is a great short story to read before or after the main trilogy.
