More like 3.5 / 5 stars. Great main story; the side stories were okay. Probably better as a weekly read than a trade read.

With 21 issues packed into this bulky, truly epic Batman event, they could afford to have a couple "off" issues. This weekly series is masterfully plotted and keeps the tension, action, and plot reveals going nonstop. I read it primarily because I knew the fairly new character, Harper Row, would get some prominent page-time, but really, I've come to trust anything with Scott Snyder+Batman on the cover, even if he didn't write most of the actual script.

A little too scattershot, for my liking. Would have been better if it were less issues,

Quite entertaining, even given that I've been out of the loop in the Batman universe for some time. Well-told story, looking forward to the next volumes.

Very good, especially for having so many writers and artists. Flawed, however; more focus on jamming in as many characters as possible and less on either story or developing those characters. Main artists were good, backup artists were hit or miss with some being outstanding. Some parts of the plot I cared very little for. Best parts of the book were the first couple issues.

I love weekly comics so much. So many things are going on at once and it's all great! This volume seems to wrap up some things, though, so I'm wondering how the rest of the series is going to play out. The stories are all pretty cool, but some of the art was weird. Most notably, Ian Bertram's. He had a whole issue of just really bizarre art. It's not particularly bad, but I don't think it works well with Batman stuff. I'd prefer to see that on a creator-owned comic. But most of the art throughout the book was good.

i have to give them credit for telling a story across so many different writers and artists. it was a really neat and ambitious idea for the 75th anniversary. i liked seeing characters from different bat stories pop up for the anniversary, but man i wish this didn't take place in the new 52. instead of giving us flashbacks to events that happened during 80s-90s comics, they're giving us rushed, watered down new stories of those characters. i guess you could say most of my issues with this book all come back around to the new 52.

i loved seeing stephanie again, i'm really excited to see where her story goes in this series (i am praying it's not a huge letdown, but my expectations are on the floor, maybe even basement level). though my favourite part was the batgirl & red hood storyline (although a good chunk of it had my least favourite art in the book), i only wish we could have seen more of it. i was really enjoying the catwoman stuff but then she just? disappeared? i imagine that'll be picked up again in the other books

some bits got very repetitive, i feel like i read the same conversation between alfred & his daughter at least four times. and the joker's daughter stuff had me rolling my eyes. i think a lot of this book is going to end up being forgettable for me in the long run, but it was a fun read

In a fit of whimsy, I hereby announce I will give everyone five stars, but the reviews may not reflect it.

Interesting take on Batman as James Gordon is accused of causing a train crash and is forced to resign from his post. Batman and Co must try to clear his name while finding out who the real culprit is. It certainly isn't mind-blowing, but if you like all things Batman, this is worth checking out.
