Dark mages, light mages and an odd gray mage thrown in here and there. It's better than it sounds. There's even a cool mermaid!

Autumn's sister is murdered. After trying a forbidden spell to bring her sister back she finds herself thrown into the Gray, a prison all mage ranks fear as whoever goes in never comes out. There she discovers she didn't know her sister Winter as well as she thought she did and is determined to find answers with her two new friends, the colourful mermaid Kai and the mysterious dark mage Xander who everyone seems to avoid all while plotting an escape.

The story sucked me right in and it was easy to follow along from the very first page (it usually takes me a couple of pages to really get into it). I love the main trio and even Handsome Ice Cream ;) Lucy though...no, I don't like Lucy.

I didn't get the impression that the book was rushed, I think the pacing was perfect and acomplished what it set out to do.

The escape was exciting (and sad!). I liked the water sprite use. And the food thing.

I'd like to know more about what happened to the trio afterwards so I'm excited for whatever comes next.

I did feel that this book was quite rushed, didn't give much backstory. It had a lack of descriptions and I barely learnt anything about the world.

I think this is a book I would have enjoyed much more if it had more content in it. But if you want a fast and easily read book, this is it. Not really what I expected unfortunately.
