I really liked this book, and my VJHS students will love this one, too. This is a great suspense story that CSI/NCIS/Criminal Mind-lovers will appreciate. It is the first of a series, and I'm really curious to see if the entire series centers on the character Cameryn.

Very quick read!

DNF at 100 pages in. I got so annoyed by the fact that supposedly this child is a forensics expert...and yet the author has to dumb down the already dumb and obvious because they felt the reader would be too stupid to figure it out. Every time Cameryn made a stupid comment or question that she would have obviously known from all her RIGOROUS AND INTENSIVE STUDIES ON FORENSICS, I just got closer to bashing my face into a window. So I quit.

I loved this book at first, with its strong female protagonist, but then she got to be not just pushy but obnoxious. And then the ending was kind of crappy. Oh well, it was a good try.

Book was good, but not great. Characters were interesting, but never really explored. Plot was good, but not great (a serial killer that's just killed and finding the killer). However, the forensic stuff was very interesting.

It was a very easy read - it would have been nice to have just a bit more depth to everything.

I am a huge forensic science fan and my favorite author of the genre is Patricia Cornwell. The element that I most enjoy of the genre is the mixing of forensic science and detective science. So, when I found this YAL nugget I was very excited! Ferguson did not disappoint. Her murder and autopsy scenes were real, the suspense was chilling, and the detective work sprinkled throughout kept me guessing right along with Cammie. I can't wait to read the next story in the series.
