Children's narrative nonfiction, early chapter book length. The magic school bus is off on another adventure-- in preparation for their Wild Weather science fair they are going to the Weatherama amusement park! But in typical magical school bus style, things don't go according to plan.  Dr. Wendy, a meteorologist, joins the class and they get up close to a real storm front.  But when twisters start to form, they are a little too close for comfort!

Interspersed with facts presented as various student projects or teacher notes, this story does a great job capturing the intensity and speed with which weather can change.  Mostly text, but a few black and white illustrations throughout.  Back matter features directions for a tornado in a bottle experiment.

An excellent book for children interested in weather. Short adventures alternate with very clear and concise explanations of different weather phenomena. Not many pictures, but a vivid narrative. My 4-year old loves it.
