Liked writing style. Still waiting for a great ending in the series.

A middle age man vacations with his wife and child. He is miserable and bored until his vacation takes a turn for the worst.

A film critic with a terrible personality takes his equally terrible family on a stupid vacation, yep, that's it.

Everyone is described as a moron in this one, and it's hard to disagree. Nothing is remotely interesting here. No horror, no drama, no point. Plenty of insufferable Harry Potter references, however.

The author throws out random social commentary then proceeds to do absolutely nothing with it. Yes, those are things, now back to this big block of nothing.

Making this all the worse, I thought this would be about a bored father forcing his family along on a murderous road trip. I couldn't even spoil what happens cause nothing does happen.

The absolute worst "horror" short story I've ever read. No one should read this, not even someone going through this whole horror collection.

This was my first read from Amazon's 'Dark Corners' short story collection. Reginald and his family go on a holiday to a hellish sounding family resort. There is an attached political diatribe about every new person he meets, including a disturbing mass shooter sequence. Reginald truly is a horrific character - I found myself desperate for the story to be over and not following this man and his family anymore despite it only being 40 pages long! Additionally, the ending was disturbing and odd... Not the most accomplished short story I have read unfortunately. Let's hope the other stories in the collection are better quality.

Ainda é possível acreditar em magia? E se a magia não tiver o efeito que você espera? É uma narrativa de autodescoberta interessante.

Reginald pissed me off, I hated him, but I liked this.

I actually really enjoyed this short story. The story is purely American in its own way. The author highlights on details so often seen in the country today. The main character is extremely flawed and the lodge they’re staying in seemed so much like a lot of the tourist “vacation” spots people often go to when they want to relax (spoiler alert: they’re expensive, loud, dirty, and not really relaxing). Maybe I enjoyed this because I didn’t disagree with a lot of the views of the main character (as pretentious as he may be). But regardless, this is a good “horror” story in its own way, with just the right ending to be a bit twisted.

This was the second installment of the Dark Corners series to rely heavily on Harry Potter for a story frame.

Reginald, a movie critic, is taking his family on a vacation not of his choosing and is being a bit of a dick about it. Not only that, but the result of the latest in his string of affairs waits for his return. I disliked Reginald so much that this story was destined to fail for me.
