15.5 stars. 5 for the book and 5 for Charlie Mackesy’s narration and 5.5 for reaffirming my faith in humanity.

Oh Charlie. Look what you did. You made a grown woman cry in public (Incase some of you were in the same gym and saw a woman who couldn’t stop sobbing… yup, it was me)

Oh Charlie. You made me believe in love, friendship, silence and the peace true friendship brings. You made me in your words feel ‘8 and 80’ at the same time. You drew images with your words and I was sitting right there with the boy when he discovered the mole, when the fox saved the boy and when the horse says a simple hello which is enough to make friends.

Oh Charlie. You made me smile, dream, laugh and cry... often in the same sentence. You made me believe that the best stories are often the simplest because they are of hope, love and the truth.

Oh Charlie. Thank you. Thank you for sharing this gift with all of us and helping us understand that love is always always bigger than hate. Thanks to you. I was the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse at different times in the story.

But most of Charlie. Thank you for bringing home the biggest lesson of all… that cake can solve everything!

So wholesome and made me smile! The art is so cute and makes me want to draw too. There isn’t really a plot, but the way it is written there didn’t need to be. All about good happy things.

Give the mole some cake 🍰 <3<3

This book is so simple but so important. It’s been sitting on my shelves for weeks now and I first picked it up tonight as I’m trying to crawl out of a hard place in my life where I have indeed forgotten to be kind to myself. As the author says, this book can be read by anyone, whether they’re eighty or eight.

I’m glad we are all here.

This book made me wanting to paint my walls black and draw on them with chalk, one more reason to have pitch black walls (or accent wall) はは

Please please please read this book. My heart is so full and weirdly shattered at the same time, but in the best way.

What a lovely, heart warming book. It's short and sweet with little tableaus with the 4 characters and a sentence or two for each page. Eg. "Life if difficult - but you are loved." And "What's your best discovery? Asked the mole. 'That I'm enough as I am' said the boy"
It's uplifting! You could cut a page out and frame it, the illustrations are beautiful.
