Three and a half stars rounded up to four. I wanted to like this book I really did. But something just felt off about it. More often than not I was very confused as to what was going on. There was a lot of talking around each other and all that and I just didn't like that. It was fairly obvious who did it, but the fact it took forever for it to come out and not to mention the 'pay off' was rushed and I had to read it a few times to even understand that was the denouement. Might hold off on more of this series if this is how they are all going to be.

Audio, narrated by the magnificent Davina Porter, who spackles over some of the infelicities. I’d given up on the Pitt tales some time ago, finding them increasingly dull. This was was different, with politics and a charismatic religious speaker the focus, as Pitt, now in Special Branch, is tasked with preventing unpleasantness. He doesn’t. The ending seemed a bit protracted and with some weird choices. Good for insomnia listening, though!
