TW: Sexual Assault

In the 1990s, Melissa, Priya, Tara, Suki were best friends and went to high school together in 1997. They all won their superlatives. In 2022, they meet for their reunion and feel unfulfilled since they did not live up to their superlative. They make a pact to live out their high school superlative,

My take: I overall liked the book. I loved the themes of female friendship and women’s empowerment. I didn’t like Melissa’s obsession with being thin and dieting. I would say the writing style felt a bit juvenile and it is an easy read that could be finished quickly.

Idk man, it’s a pretty run of the mill book about female friendship and floundering in your forties. While I read it quickly, it was not a particularly substantial or comforting read. Not bad, but I’d pick it up from the library not a bookstore.

I wanted to like this book, but the characters were very flat, major issues were glossed over with no real resolution, and the ending was tied up in far too nice of a bow. This book wanted to do a lot but ended up not doing much at all. Very surface-level read.
