I found it incredibly inspiring. It made me reflect on my own experience of being a woman and then opened me up to the experience of women on the margins of society. Fundamentally it made me realise how important of equality.

This is a really powerful book about how involving women in conversations can have a profound impact of various societies, whether the culture is based on geography, socio-economic tradition, or a 21st century workplace. I really think it is a must read for everyone.

Loved this book. Full of stories from women who influenced Melinda Gates' personal movement and the goals of the Gates Foundation. Recommend to all

I won a copy of this book from a goodreads' First Reads giveaway
As the subtitle states, this book is about empowering women to help make the world a better place. In this book, Melinda Gates talks about her work with the Gates Foundation and how through that foundation she is working with others to help empower women. She shares her own stories and the stories of others that she has heard through her philanthropic work. She focuses on different topics like child marriage, family planning, access to education for girls, unpaid labor (i.e. the work women do to run their household). Melinda and her foundation are working to help raise awareness of these issues and to remedy them where they can be.
While the book shows that we have a ways to go, it did leave me feeling hopeful.

I found this book to be good and interesting. I, of course, know who Melinda Gates is but other than that I knew nothing about her. I was impressed with her caring, down-to-earth personality. She visited some very poor areas of the world and put a lot of time and effort into listening to their stories and their needs and trying to help improve the lives of the women there. She's more than a wealthy lady. She's smart and caring. Reading this you can practically see the lift and empowerment she is trying to give to women in the world and I think it's a great thing.
