This is as good as and maybe better than the first Brenna Spector novel. Go read it right now!
Good, but I liked it a bit less than the first. The memory thing is less well integrated, which is understandable, but makes this more of a run-of-the-mill-PI-with-a-past type book. Two things bugged me about this one. The assistant is annoying. At one point the narrator says that he knows when to shut up, after a whole chapter where he sticks his foot in his mouth repeatedly. Second, I find it hard to believe that Spector would continually put her daughter in that kind of risk. Gaylin's author bio says she has a daughter, so maybe it's just me, but I ain't buying it.
I always enjoy reading a series where the characters grow in subsequent book--Into the Dark by Alison Gaylin is a good example. Brenna continues to benefit and be plagued by her amazing memory, Trent her assistant learns some things the hard way, the policeman who looks like a philosophy professor from the first book is in a growing relationship with Brenna and her daughter is maturing as well. The mystery of Brenna's sister continues and intersects with the missing person being sought in this book. It is a relatively quick read and I look forward to the nest installment this summer.
This book follows te case of Brenna her missing sister. It is such a good book and the descriptions of all the memories Brenna had Aboutaleb certain parts in her life are so good. I can really recommend this novel.
I couldn’t put this down, I needed to find out what happens next. I also love the characters, and the whole flawless memory thing is so fascinating, I think especially because my own memory is so bad. The story was pretty twisty and full of odd coincidences but it all comes together so well at the end. I’m starting book 3 immediately, though, because there are still some loose ends that I really want to see get tied up.
This book had me hooked--I really wanted to know who Lula Belle was, and what had happened to Clea. I stayed up late to finish it, I wanted to know...
I wish I'd gone to bed. I was very disappointed with the end. I re-read the epilogue to make sure I hadn't missed something, and thought about it for a long time afterward, trying to make sense of it.
It's a good, gripping story with a disappointing end--that doesn't really give resolution.

Lucky enough to snag an advance copy at Bouchercon. I loved it! Hope there is another one in the works!
