Ms. Brinsmead weaves a wonderful story. Somehow she gives you such a feeling of place and and person that while you're reading you're living the story, absent from your every day life.

The Isle of the Sea Horse is the story of five unlikely friends who are shipwrecked and float in a little raft to an island where they find a home within each other.

As we get to know them, their stories and themselves the question that comes up is will they stay here in what paradise they've found, renouncing the world or will they return?

I loved meeting them all, Emma, Raquel, Shem, George and Mrs Mulvaney. Each of them are completely different, yet together they fit.

Any of Ms. Brinsmead's books are excellent reads, set in Australia they are a rare breed of book. Take this as a recommendation to pick one up.
