Short story collections are often uneven, especially anthologies. Because of that I was not sure how to rate this. I almost gave it 2 stars, but I really liked a number of the early ones. The later stories are pretty disturbing, though.

Some of my favorites:

1. "Plant Children" is delightful. Coming-of-age with a fantastical twist. That procrastination though - a little too relatable!

The shorter the story the better it was. For the most part.

I feel like there was a big range in the quality of the stories. Some were quite nice and interesting, others didn't really got through me. I guess that's expected when there's such a wide range of authors, but I expected more, somehow.

Like most books of short stories, there's hits and misses. I would say this series has an above average number of hits. There is a large section of the back half where a majority of my complaint is that I liked the stories enough that I wished that they had been longer. Although then, maybe it wouldn't have been as tight and well written.

I can't recommend it enough. A great balance of SF exploring LGBT+ themes and issues, and cracking stories with characters who "just happen to be" queer. A great collection for any fans of genre fiction.

There are some incredible stories in here, but also a few weaker ones. The additional interviews and essays certainly added to the conversation about sci-fi and queer identity happening in the stories. There was only one story I disliked due to the subject matter.

An excellent anthology in which is quite visible the effort that was put in making it as inclusive as possible.

There are happy stories and sad stories, angry stories and thoughtful ones, stories filled with hope and hopeless, but in all of them, the characters are brilliant and what shines at their heart.

Really worthy of your time.

The narrators vary in their effectivity, but they are en general very good.
