This book broke my heart and made me cry for half an hour. It was messy and felt real.

It was a slow burn story, it showed their lives unfolding in beautifully written detail and made me feel everything even stronger.

I was not at all expecting the twist that came, it was a knife to the heart. But overall I’m glad it ended the way it did.

This book is very well-written and told a beautiful story. At times, I felt like it wasn’t detailed enough or was a bit unfinished - I needed to be tormented emotionally a little more tbh

This was pleasant to read, but there was just something that turned me off-the narrator, mainly. I may also have had much higher Hopes, given the reviews. It did make me.wonder how I would handle a situation like the two main characters found themselves it....but I am pretty sure I would not have allowed things to get so out of hand-i just kept wanting James to just be happy with what he had and stop mooning over what he couldn't have and shouldn't be wanting. Maybe I am just being an old crank. I would still reccomend this-there was some good heart and strong bones.

This book gave me All. The. Feels. A beautiful story and the last chapter ties the entire thing together so perfectly.

Wandering the library looking for something to read, just coming off of 2 very dark crime/mystery. I needed something light. I was drawn to the cover. So it's nice to have such a great read, after going in with ZERO expectations. This is a wonderful story about love, friendship, life, family. But with some great twists and turns, being told by the POV of James/Jim, to his child. This is going on my favorites

An amazing, complicated love story that spans many years. Shows how non-traditional families can make it work. Great story of love from many angles!
