i LOVED this - it was so interesting and i have never read someone describe food in the way that yuzuki does. i was so invested in the backstory of kajji and the crimes she supposedly committed. i loved the way we learnt about it through a journalist trying to win her over with the side stories of how this affected her outside relationships with people. It’s ultimately a story of self-reflection,acceptance and discovery in a place and time that is heavily critical of women.

i did think going into it this book would be more of a thriller but i’m not disappointed by its reality at all - i love this kind of book.

Complicated. Food, feminism, friendship and a serial killer.

Gute Analyse der japanischen Gesellschaft, die zu wenig zeigt, zu viel erzählt und bei der doch am Ende alles so bleiben soll, wie es ist.
