I only liked a few stories.
With most essays, I was like, okay, so where are you going with this? I get that it's brave and naked experience but I have to have a stable vision of where the narrative is going. Like what are you trying to tell us? I cannot make sense of most of the stories.

Muy real, se nota la vulnerabilidad, honestidad y personalidad particular en la escritura de cada una de las autoras.

My favourite essays were 9, 12 and 13. It’s hard to criticise non-fiction works that are also autobiographical and personal. While it had a wide breadth, I feel like a lot of chapters skimmed their experiences. We did learn about what they and their mother don’t talk about but I wanted meatier perspectives. A lot of them were very significant experiences but lacked, for me, a stronger emotional aspect where it broke past the barrier and showed vulnerability, rather than just being a recount. Again, it is already vulnerable to speak these silent matters and immortalise them in written word, but I do think it could have been cathartic for all to push it a bit further.
