This scrapbook-style book gives us the inside scoop on how the Harry Potter films were created. It includes essays from the cast and crew about the techniques used to bring the magic to life as well as anecdotes about things that happened on the set (for instance, Helen Bonham Carter accidentally ruptured Matthew Lewis' eardrum with her wand as she enthusiastically portrayed Bellatrix messing with Neville). We learn how they made the Quiddich players fly; how the underwater and in-the-air scenes were filmed; the methods used to create magical creatures and characters including Voldemort, Dobby, and the thestrals; how the sets were created in such fantastic detail; and much much more.

I can't get enough HP, and this book is bursting with fun stuff about my favorite wizarding world. In addition to the essays and stories, there are tons of behind-the-scenes photos, preliminary sketches, and story boards that were used during the production of the films. I loved learning about how the special effects were done--I was really surprised by how many parts of the movies that I'd thought were made digitally were actually created mechanically. I also enjoyed hearing what the cast and crew thought about what it was like to be part of the team. The amount of work it took to make these movies is overwhelming--even more than I'd imagined--but I'm so glad that they went through all the effort!

Writing this review in English since that's the only language this book can be found in.

THIS WAS INCREDIBLE. I paid like twice its price because I had to get it shipped to Argentina but it was completely worth it. I was close to tears when I opened the Marauder's map. I can't even begin to describe what this book meant to me, I'm not even sure what I want to say in Spanish but I'll give it a try.

It was like reliving the whole book and film series over again. It's a movie facts book, beginning with Sorcerer's stone and going all the way until we get to Deathly Hallows. There also are the Marauders map, an invitation to the yule ball, the hogwarts invitation letter, some of the rules that Umbridge made (kind of poster form) and a lot of things more. And I really felt like I was diving right into the films. There are a lot of great facts and a lot of behind the scenes pictures and stories. Several times we find the actors talking about the character each one plays and it's amazing to see how much everyone loved the saga (even Rita Skeeter, which came as a surprise to me).

I knew making a movie was a great deal but I never imagined it would come to the point of making a lot of plastic galleons one by one and by hand. And by a lot I mean thousands. The detail they put into every movie was awesome, and now I know I'll see them with different eyes.

Completely recommended!!!! It's worth its price!!!! Really good quality!!!! Get it now!!!!!

I can't say I read this from cover to cover, but when I was cataloging this book to add into my library's collection, I definitely took a few minutes to look this one over. I couldn't help it. The illustrations are so wonderful and it really covers all aspects of the making of these popular films. On that first inspection I liked it so much I got it for my friend who's most obsessed with Harry Potter for Christmas that year. Now I get to flip through it whenever I'm over at her place. It's still as engrossing today.

Great book, offering insight into not just how things were accomplished, but into the world of Harry Potter, as seen by the filmmakers. There is a lot of overlooked detail which is highlighted here.
