A fabulous novelette that ties together three of Maberry's series. A lot of fun seeing characters from the different series interact.

We are all friends here, right? Yes, we are, so I feel this is a safe place. I have to confess that I have a full on literary crush of Joe Ledger. I would seriously like to have his "book babies."

Thank you for listening to me.

I listened to the audio book of Dark of Night by Jonathan Maberry, narrated by Ray Porter. The story and the narration were both outstanding.

I have not read the other story, which was not part of the audio book.

Audio Rating: 5.00 (not part of the overall rating)

First Thought when Finished: I love these worlds and love that they all collided!

Quick Thoughts: I wasn't sure if adding co-authors was going to change the nuances of characters that I know and love but I worried for nothing. Dark of Night fit into the world perfectly and brought together characters that I love. This was a super quick listen but totally fullfilling! If you are a fan of any of the 3 series, I think you will love Dark of Night. If you have read/listened to all 3 series then you will probably cheer your way through cause there are many fist pump moments (well in a gory weird way) LOL.

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Ray Porter / Length: 4 hrs and 59 mins

Ray nailed it! Not that I expected any less :)

This was my first introduction to Joe Ledger and Baskerville(not sure if he is in the Joe Ledger series but I certainly hope so) and I have to say I think I'm in love. The LARPer didn't do much for me. The rest of the story was great thought Dez was slightly dull next to Baskerville and Ledger.

This is actually two novellas. "Dark of Night" by Jonathan Maberry and Rachel Lavin, and "Flesh and Fire" by Lucas Magnum.
I actually picked this up to read Lucas Magnum's story. The other story was a zombie story, and I have had my fill of this sub-genre. Yet, I was pleasantly surprised by "Dark of Night" and found myself hooked right from the beginning. It's a real page-turner. Does it add anything new? Not really, but the writing is compelling and the action and suspense keeps you engaged. I was also happy to be reunited with Joe Ledger--I love the Joe Ledger novels.

I only have one complaint, they really need a better copy editor. The typos are so numerous that they become distracting.

Lucas Magnum's story was fantastic. "Flesh and Fire" hooked me from the beginning and wouldn't let me go until I finished it. I wanted more. It reminded me a little bit of Neil Gaiman and Clive Barker but it clearly has its own voice. I will definitely be looking for more work from Lucas Magnum.
