This was not as definitely not as "what the fuck am I reading?" as the John Dies at the End series but you could tell that this was a Jason Pargin book. Super funny at times with his unique dark humor and still plenty crazy but in a real way. The message is as subtle as a fart in an elevator. PUT YOUR CELLPHONES DOWN. Regardless of incredibly relevant social commentary, it was just fine. The climax was probably my least favorite part of this honestly.

A total zeitgeist novel. Anyone 20 to 50 years in the future looking to understand the cultural anxieties, divides, and general sense of doom felt by people in and around the year 2024 could do worse than picking up Pargin's funny, exciting, and insightful novel.
