My community library patrons voted this as the city's summer read, so I'm joining in on the fun. And this was a really fun, compelling read for the most part! I found the writing quite lovely and engaging, and I enjoyed seeing the characters change from day to day (sometimes even minute to minute). But I'm not 100% sure the author stuck the landing, as the resolution of the main "mystery" was underwhelming. Also, quick CW, I didn't love the implied school shooting prep plotline, so maybe skip this if that's not your jam.

I decided to read the book because I enjoyed the show so much. I thought maybe it would give me some clues about what might happen in season 2. The book is QUITE different than the show, which I was not expecting. Though it is still mysterious, it is much darker and more serious. I enjoyed it for its own merit.

Seemed like more of a parable. Following the lives of broken, normal people in a small town. It reflects on identity and the desire for more. I enjoyed reading it, but I feel like there wasn’t the closure I was looking for.

This book was the perfect read for what I needed. A light read, that still had a little something to think about. Nothing earth shattering, but entertaining.
