Well written, but drives home the point that this will never be my favorite genre. Nice for a quick read and hitting reading goals though.

Ok, I think mama is having a reading slump this week. Insta-love, angel and witch, no world building, not much of a plot to go on with except a little crumb near the end and too many sex scenes just for the sake of it? Pfff... not today, and tomorrow doesn't look good either!

This is a novella within Felicity Heaton’s Her Angel romance series. It is a tale of revenge, temptation and forbidden hungers but underlining it all it is a love story.
Her Dark Angel is the first of the series but can be read as a standalone story; you don’t need to read the next books in the series to enjoy this one. I downloaded this 96 page book to my Kindle because it was free on Amazon UK and I’d already read other books by the same author and really enjoyed them.
...So what’s this story about?
Apollyon is a warrior and “The Angel of Death” whose job it is to guard the pit of Hell making sure that the Devil doesn’t escape. He’s been alone in Hell doing his duty for centuries; bored and longing for the pleasures of flying & fighting. When he senses someone calling him, he seizes his chance for freedom but soon discovers the call comes from a beautiful woman he has watched over from Hell, a woman who awakens the darkest desires of his heart.
Serenity is a witch living in Paris who casts a simple vengeance spell to get revenge on her ex-boyfriend in an attempt to mend her broken heart. She is shocked when the wickedly sensual black-winged Angel of Death shows up offering to obey her and give her revenge.
...So, what did I like about it?
I love Felicity Heaton’s writing style, the way she makes even the most explicit sexual scenes feel romantic – I think she’s a very talented writer. For me, a story is only really erotic if I’m emotionally connected to the characters involved, Ms Heaton gives her characters such depth that they become real, even in these short novellas. As always, this story was a page turner and I enjoyed reading it. Of course, I got caught up with the shenanigans (who wouldn’t *blush*) but the tender insights into Apollyon and Serenity’s insecurities and the growth of their trust and love were beautiful to read.
...So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
Well, not “disliked” but I found that my religious beliefs and faith meant that I found it tricky to relate to Serenity’s dilemma about “loving an Angel” and “going to Hell” for her feelings for Apollyon, the whole Angel fantasy romance is new to me and not really something that I personally fantasize about.
...So, basically what I’m saying is...
I really enjoyed this romantic novella. It was a nice quick read that made me smile, cry and feel all warm & fuzzy inside with well written erotic thrills, testosterone filled scenes and heaps of romantic gestures.

~ 3 Her Dark Angel Stars ~
Her Dark Angel is book one in Her Angel series by Felicity Heaton. Her Dark Angel was an ok start to what has potential to be another hot series.
Serenity is a witch who wants revenge on her cheating ex-boyfriend and unknowingly calls to an Angel. Apollyon is an Angel, the Great Destroyer or also known as the Angel of the Apocalypse.
I am a fan of her Eternal Mates and Vampire Erotic Theater series. FHeaton know’s how to write hot sex scenes and great characters, so I wanted to give her Angel’s a try. Her Dark Angel is a quick sexy novella. We learn that all Angels watch, that is what they do, until they are needed. Their was very little world building not what I am use to from FHeaton. The plot was predictable and the plan to get back at her ex was no big surprise. As for the relationship between Apollyon and Serenity, I never felt the lust turn into love. The sex scenes are hot and the romance moves quickly. This is not one of her best, but it has potential and I look forward to checking out more of this series.

As a short story to pass time this was alriight. Although, I have read very few angel stories & I'm interested in reading more in that genre. I'm willing to read the next novel in this series....
